We are delighted to be working on behalf of IOP Publishing to appoint two Senior Finance Business Partners.  The Senior Finance Business Partner will be a trusted advisor and internal consultant, accountable for and driving strong strategic relationships with the executive leaders and the directorate leadership teams internationally, owning the financial strategy plan for each directorate, shaping and influencing financial and commercial capability and decision-making across the directorate, while working seamlessly with the broader finance teams.

Translating business strategy into functional financial strategy, you will likely be a Head of FP&A / Head of Commercial Finance / Head of Finance / Senior Finance Business Partner profile interested in a role with no month end activities.

Location

In September 2022, IOP moved its headquarters to a brand-new purpose-built office. The Distillery in Bristol, UK, provides fully supported digital working combined with a space that fits its hybrid and flexible way of working. The new office offers a collaborative and social hub with space for quiet work.

 

The Role

The role will take a lead role in coaching and mentoring leaders and will provide the “voice of the customer” into the finance operation to enable strategic solutions and the development of the finance operating model generally, contributing to and delivering on agreed strategy and standards, connecting with relevant functional colleagues to ensure cohesion and in particular so that business and financial controls are developed in line with standards.  Headline activities will include:

 

  • Develop, own and implement future focussed strategic financial plans for specific areas of the business
  • Provide counsel, options, expertise and practical implementation of financial management to directors and senior managers to support the delivery of financial strategy
  • Ensure decisions are grounded in financial strategy and that financial plans deliver strategic aims.
  • Imbed a culture of reviewing performance against KPIs, and lead on any corrective actions as required.
  • Provision of investment appraisal to support all financial decisions including new business, renegotiation, acquisition, divesture.

 

About You

As a professionally qualified accountant with significant PQE (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), you will have strong financial planning experience gained in a similar complex group organisation coupled with strong experience of owning and developing budget, forecast and business planning processes.  Given the heavy focus on this role on strategic planning, investment appraisal and economic evaluation, you will demonstrate experience of influencing and coaching business stakeholders at all levels.
