Interim AI Transformation Director – Finance, HR & Operations

M4 Corridor | Hybrid
Up to £1,500 per day | Outside IR35
Initial 6-month assignment

We are supporting a large, complex organisation embarking on a significant AI-enabled enterprise transformation programme across Finance, HR and Operations.

This is not an AI strategy role in isolation. The mandate is to identify where AI, automation and operating model change can create measurable enterprise value — and then lead the transformation required to deliver it.

Working closely with the executive leadership team, the Interim Transformation Director will assess the existing operating environment, identify opportunities to simplify and standardise activity, and develop a practical roadmap for an increasingly AI-enabled operating model.

The mandate will include:

• Assessing the current operating model across Finance, HR and Operations, identifying duplication, inefficiency and opportunities for simplification.
• Identifying and prioritising AI and automation use cases based on genuine business value rather than technology for technology's sake.
• Reviewing opportunities around Shared Services / GBS, including scope, location, capability and levels of centralisation.
• Developing the future Target Operating Model, incorporating people, process, data, technology and governance.
• Building robust business cases covering cost reduction, productivity, service improvement and investment requirements.
• Establishing a prioritised transformation roadmap and implementation plan.
• Working with functional leadership teams to move from strategy and pilots into enterprise-scale execution.
• Providing executive and Board-level visibility around opportunities, investment, risks, benefits and delivery.

We are looking for:

An experienced Transformation Director / Programme Director with a strong track record of delivering complex enterprise transformation within sizeable organisations.

You are likely to bring:

• Significant transformation leadership experience across Finance and broader corporate functions, ideally including HR and Operations.
• Evidence of delivering AI-enabled transformation, intelligent automation or digital transformation at scale.
• Strong experience of Shared Services, GBS and Target Operating Model design.
• A track record of identifying and delivering material cost optimisation and productivity benefits.
• The ability to translate emerging AI capability into credible, commercially grounded business cases.
• Experience influencing C-suite and Board-level stakeholders.
• The ability to operate strategically while remaining sufficiently hands-on to drive execution.

The successful individual will combine transformation leadership, commercial judgement and an understanding of AI's practical application within complex organisations.

Rate: Up to £1,500 per day
