Coyne & Associates is partnering with an ambitious consumer business in Bristol to appoint a Financial Controller. With an expanding international footprint, the business is looking for someone who can strengthen financial control and reporting while helping shape its next stage of growth.
Working closely with the CFO, you will combine technical expertise, commercial judgement and practical leadership. You will build confidence in the numbers, develop the finance team and ensure reporting gives senior leaders the insight they need to make sound decisions.
This will suit a technically strong accountant with the ambition and potential to grow with the business. Comfortable working at pace and navigating ambiguity, you will bring structure, establish priorities and take ownership as the organisation develops.
The opportunity
You will lead group financial control and reporting, developing the processes, capability and discipline needed to support an increasingly international business. Your priorities will include:
Leading group consolidation and reporting, delivering accurate, timely and insightful financial information.
Strengthening financial controls, accounting policies and reporting consistency across international operations.
Providing technical accounting leadership, assessing complex transactions and their implications for the group.
Leading statutory accounts preparation and managing the external audit relationship.
Working with finance colleagues and operational leaders to improve financial information and resolve issues.
Building and developing the finance team through clear expectations, practical support and coaching.
Helping the CFO anticipate the reporting and governance requirements of further growth.
About you
You will be a qualified accountant with a strong grounding in group reporting, consolidation and technical accounting. Your experience may come from a Big Four firm, an international business or a combination of practice and industry.
Your judgement, potential and appetite to take ownership will be equally important. You will bring:
Strong technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS and experience preparing or auditing group financial statements.
The ability to translate complex accounting matters into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders.
A structured approach and the flexibility to adapt as priorities change.
Confidence working with senior leaders, challenging assumptions constructively and following through on decisions.
A supportive leadership style and experience developing others.
A willingness to get into the detail while understanding the wider commercial implications.
Curiosity, initiative and the ability to make progress when the answer is not immediately obvious.
Why consider it?
This is an opportunity to make a significant contribution to an ambitious consumer business at an important stage of its development. Working closely with the CFO, you will gain broad business exposure, shape the finance function and build the foundations to support further international growth.
