Investment Analyst / Associate – Venture Capital

London | Venture & Growth Capital | £100m Investment Fund

We are working exclusively with a specialist VC investor to appoint an Investment Analyst / Associate to its growing London-based investment team.

The firm invests in ambitious, high-growth businesses across the UK and Europe, with a particular focus on consumer and related sectors. Investing at both venture and growth stage, the fund typically makes initial investments of £1m–£5m.

This is an opportunity to join a small, highly experienced investment team and gain genuine exposure across the full investment lifecycle – from identifying and assessing new opportunities through to execution and ongoing portfolio support.

The role

Working closely with senior members of the investment team, you will:

  • Source and evaluate new investment opportunities, including sector mapping, founder outreach and initial screening
  • Build and stress-test detailed financial models and valuations for live investment opportunities
  • Undertake commercial and financial diligence, including market sizing, competitive analysis and unit economics
  • Assess management teams, business models and investment cases
  • Prepare investment papers and present recommendations to Investment Committee
  • Support portfolio businesses with strategic and financial analysis following investment
  • Contribute to wider fund activity, including fundraising and investor reporting

The individual

We are particularly interested in speaking with ACA-qualified individuals from a Corporate Finance / M&A background who are looking to move into, or develop their career within, direct investment.

You are likely to bring:

  • ACA qualification, ideally gained within an accountancy or advisory firm
  • Approximately 2–3 years' relevant Corporate Finance, M&A, investment banking or investment experience
  • Strong financial modelling, valuation and analytical capability
  • Hands-on transaction experience and an understanding of the deal lifecycle
  • The ability to assess a business commercially as well as financially and challenge underlying assumptions
  • An interest in high-growth businesses and evolving consumer markets
  • The ability to turn complex information into a clear and compelling investment case
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The confidence to take ownership of work within a small, entrepreneurial investment team

For an ACA currently working within Corporate Finance or M&A, this represents an excellent opportunity to move to the principal side and become directly involved in investment decisions – working with founders, evaluating opportunities from first principles and remaining involved with portfolio businesses beyond completion.
