Energy / Renewables | Northern England (Hybrid) | £650–£750 per day | Outside IR35
A high-growth, technology-enabled energy / renewables business is seeking an experienced Interim Financial Controller for an initial 4–6 month assignment.
This is a hands-on leadership role in a scaling, regulated environment. The business operates across multiple entities and is strengthening its financial reporting, controls and systems as it grows. They require an interim who can bring immediate credibility, structure and delivery.
Sector experience in energy / renewables is essential.
Reporting to the CFO, you will take ownership of group financial reporting and controls across UK and international entities, with responsibility for:
Consolidated reporting under IFRS / UK GAAP
Strengthening financial controls and governance
Improving the quality, speed and insight of monthly reporting (P&L, BS, Cashflow)
Managing audit processes and external advisors
Ensuring statutory, tax and regulatory compliance in a regulated setting
Supporting investor reporting and funding-related activity
There is also a clear mandate to enhance systems and automation. The business is evolving its ERP landscape and requires someone comfortable improving reporting processes within cloud-based finance environments.
You will lead and develop an established finance team, bringing clarity of roles, accountability and performance focus.
ACCA (or equivalent) qualified
Strong group consolidation and multi-entity reporting experience
Proven background within energy, renewables, utilities or regulated infrastructure
Experienced operating in fast-paced, growth environments
Strong audit leadership capability
Confident partnering with senior stakeholders and executive teams
Prior team management experience
This role requires someone who can step in quickly, assess the current position, stabilise reporting where needed and leave behind a stronger, more scalable finance function.
