An established UK investment firm is seeking an Investment Manager to join its Reading team, supporting the deployment of long-term, minority growth capital into ambitious SMEs across the Thames Valley and wider South East.

Backed by a significant, evergreen capital base, the firm specialises in partnering with founder-led and entrepreneurial businesses, providing flexible funding to support growth, scale-up, acquisitions and strategic development. Operating from multiple regional hubs, they take a relationship-driven approach, working closely with management teams to accelerate performance and unlock value.

The Opportunity

You’ll play a central role in originating, evaluating and executing new investments across a diverse range of sectors. This will suit someone who thrives in dealmaking, enjoys meeting business owners and is motivated by helping great companies scale.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Origination & Deal Execution: Building networks across advisers, SMEs and intermediaries; leading financial analysis, valuation and due diligence; supporting negotiations and deal structuring.

  • Portfolio Support: Working with portfolio company leadership teams post-investment, contributing to strategic plans, performance reviews and value-creation workstreams.

  • Market Insight: Monitoring local and sector trends, developing an informed view of opportunities, risks and competitive dynamics.

  • Internal Collaboration: Working closely with regional colleagues and the wider national team to share insight and support best practice.

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience in corporate finance, transaction services, M&A, growth/PE investing, venture, or a similar deal-led environment.

  • Strong financial modelling, commercial analysis and investment appraisal capabilities.

  • Confident building relationships with founders, advisers and stakeholders across the regional business community.

  • ACA/ACCA/CFA highly advantageous but not essential.

  • Genuine interest in supporting high-growth, entrepreneurial SMEs across the Thames Valley.

Why This Role?

  • Work with a high-performing team deeply embedded in the regional business ecosystem.

  • Exposure to varied, high-quality deal flow across multiple sectors.

  • Highly collaborative culture with long-term capital backing and a track record of supporting businesses sustainably.

  • Competitive salary, bonus structure and a clear progression route into leadership and future carry.
